Pakistani social media has been buzzing with speculation on whether US President-elect Donald Trump will intervene to secure the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned.

Amid high hopes, an 𝗔𝗜-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 has emerged, showing Trump’s arrival at Adiala Jail under tight security and his brief meeting with Imran Khan.

The video shows the rapid advancement of AI technology which can now bring imagined scenarios to life through realistic images and videos.

The debate over Trump’s potential role in getting Imran Khan released intensified the jailed former prime minister congratulated the Republican leader on social media after his election victory on Nov 5.

He expressed hope that the new administration would foster “Pak-US relations based on mutual respect for democracy and human rights”.

Encouraged by Trump’s victory, PTI supporters in the US drafted a new congressional letter urging the release of Imran Khan and other political prisoners.

They have also written a letter to several members of the US Congress, urging President Biden to use his influence to pressurize the government of Pakistan in securing the release of the former prime minister.

However, there is no confirmed evidence of any personal relationship or admiration between Trump and the imprisoned PTI founder.

On the contrary, PML-N federal ministers have rejected speculation that Trump would play a role in securing Imran’s release.

PML-N supporters claimed Trump’s aides had assured their leaders the new administration would refrain from interfering in Pakistan’s domestic politics.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that PTI leaders were making exaggerated claims. “We don’t think Trump will call for the PTI founder’s release. Let’s wait for 15 to 20 days and see what stand he takes,” he said.
