Pakistani athlete and mountaineer Samar Khan has successfully summited Mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America located in Argentina.
In a post on Instagram, Samar said she had successfully summited Mount Aconcagua with a team of nine other women and reached the peak that stands at an elevation of 6,961 metres in the Andes.
“I started my climb with an amazing team of nine strong women at 4:15 AM and reached the summit of the highest peak in South America at 2:00 PM,” she said,
“The climb was full of challenges, with one of the biggest being the extreme cold and harsh winds of the Andes. However, with Allah’s grace and your prayers, I successfully completed the climb.”
She thanked her sponsors for providing this fully-funded climbing opportunity, trek guides, and her friends for supporting and believing in her.
In July 2024, Samar Khan achieved international recognition by successfully scaling Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, which stands at 5,642 meters. This feat established her as the first Pakistani woman to conquer the mountain.
Khan’s accomplishment has been supported by the Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North, which sponsored her expedition. She expressed her gratitude towards the organization for its critical role in facilitating her journey.
Following her ascent, she snowboarded down the mountain, demonstrating her versatility and prowess in adventure sports.
Previously, Samar Khan was recognized as the first female cyclist to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro and navigate the third-largest non-polar glacier in the world. Her series of achievements highlight her commitment to pushing limits and excelling in extreme conditions.
